The art of Nikka whisky is the legacy of Masataka Taketsuru, the pioneer of Japanese whisky-making. With extensive experience in Scottish malt distillation, he opened his own distillery in 1933 to create his vision of premium Japanese whisky. Today, Nikka operates two distilleries: - Yoichi Distillery (Hokkaido): The last distillery in Japan to use coal-fired heating, preserving the traditional character of the spirit. - Miyagikyo Distillery (Miyagi):Produces lighter, fruitier whiskies, similar to those from Scotland’s Lowlands.
