The history of Ouzo in the Magnesia region began in 1922, when Greek refugees from Smyrna settled in Nea Ionia, Magnesia. Along with them, they carried the secrets and expertise of traditional Smyrna-style family ouzo, passed down through generations of the Apostolakis family. Thirty years later, in 1954, the Old Family Recipe was revived in Nea Ionia, Volos, producing the first bottles of Family Ouzo with a Legacy of Quality—the renowned OUZO 1954. Today, guided by Smyrna’s rich tradition, the Apostolakis family continues to craft this exceptional and smooth ouzo, preserving the secrets of the Old Family Recipe in every bottle of OUZO 1954.
